Dr. Jeffrey Heyl
Dr. Jeffrey Heyl is from St. Louis and holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music, the Hartt School of Music & the University of Iowa. He has been active as vocal soloist, choral conductor, educator and church musician. Dr. Heyl has taught voice, conducted choirs and taught music classes at Maryville University, Millikin University, Lindenwood University, Urshan College, Bluefield College and his own private studio. He also is Director of Music & Worship at Green Trails United Methodist Church. Dr. Heyl has sung extensively and has appeared in opera, oratorio, recital, and music theatre, including Carmina Burana with Webster University and UMStl, Ein Deutches Requiem at Umstl and Missouri Baptist University, the Beethoven 9th Symphony & Songs of a Wayfayer and Dona Nobis Pacem with Robert Hart Baker and the St Louis Philharmonic and the midwest premiere of Mark Hayes’ Requiem with conductor Kevin McBeth. He has appeared with the St. Louis Symphony with conductors David Robertson, Nicholas MeCegan, John Starguard and in Robert Kapilow’s Summer Sun, Winter Moon where he sang the part of Raven with the composer conducting. In the past he was bass soloist with the symphony in Beethoven’s Mass in C, Nielsen’s 3rd Symphony and Weill’s Flight of Lindbergh. Dr. Heyl has also been principal bass with the AMERICAN KANTOREI where he is privileged to be singing the part of Jesus in Bach’s St John Passion during Holy Week of 2024. Margret is his wife of 38 years, their children Samuel, Emily, Mary and Christopher.
Accompanist
Sara Shroth
Sara Shroth serves as adult choir accompanist at Holy Cross Luthern Church, as well as keyboardist at Pheasant Point Baptist Church, both in O’Fallon, MO., and previously was the choir director/accompanist at Shiloh Methodist Church in Forestll, MO. She is a substitute teacher in the Wentzville R-IV District. Sara and her husband Larry enjoy travel with a purpose, most often serving as volunteers for Wycliff Bible Translators Associates, an organization devoted to supporting the work of Bible translations for millions of people who do not have the Bible in their “heart” language. So far, they have volunteered in Paraguay, Peru and New Zealand. Sara is also an avid reader and PBS Mystery fan.
