Concert Arts Singers History

Group History

Founded in 1973, the Choral Arts Singers is a part of the Concert Arts Association and has been providing an opportunity for the residents of St. Charles, Warren, Lincoln, and St. Louis Counties to perform and experience professional quality vocal music.  Concert Arts Association is guided by the ideal of providing music education programs with the highest level of quality possible while keeping our dues and program fees as low as possible.

Our goal is to provide vocal music performance and education at a challenging level not found in most local church choirs or small community choruses while still having fun in the process. Our programs include classical, popular and Broadway fare, performed in formal attire. The Choral Arts Singers welcome men and women of high school age and older. Our singers choose to participate, audition-free.

The Choral Arts Singers (CAS), our accomplished SATB choir has been serving and performing in St. Charles County and surrounding areas for nearly 40 years. We have also performed in Hawaii, New York City’s Carnegie Hall and Washington, D.C’s Kennedy Center. Membership in the group is open to anyone ages 9th grade thru adult who wishes to participate, regardless of musical knowledge, as long as they wish to learn the music and strive for excellence. Our staff and veterans help provide the education and skills. At least 13 weekly practice sessions and 2-3 performances are scheduled each semester.

Concert Arts is an IRS section 501 (c) (3) charitable organization and relies heavily on the generosity of its audiences. We do not charge admission to our concerts. Expenses are covered by dues, occasional fees, donations, program advertisements, public grants, and sponsors.  Sponsors receive full acknowledgement and advertising space in our concert programs and on our website.

Where We have Performed

Our spring and fall concerts are performed at local venues in St. Charles, Warren and Lincoln counties. Please check our Events Calendar for currently scheduled performances.

We have been priviliged to perform at other venues as well.

In the 1980’s the Choral Arts Singers performed at several “Music on the Missouri” concerts sponsered by the St. Charles County Arts Council.

In 1987 Choral Arts Singers were honored to be selected to travel to The Republic of China-Taiwan as part of a cultural exchange program, and presented concerts in Taipei (2), Talchung and Kaohsiung. Music included tunes from the Broadway musicals “Annie” and “Oaklahoma”, classical music by Mozart, Brahms and Schubert as well as several songs by Stephen Foster. They also sang the anthem of Taiwan in Chinese.
